Rankin Transitions to DotCom Therapy for Speech and Language Pathologist Services
I hope everyone is enjoying the final days of summer! The purpose of this email is to provide everyone with an update about our Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP) services this year. In July, our position for an SLP became open and vacant. Thus, we actively strived to fill this opening with a person who could provide in-person SLP services for this school year; however, we were unsuccessful at filling this position. Given this scenario, the District has been exploring other possibilities for the providing of SLP services this year. Thus, I want to make everyone aware that the District is moving forward with a partnership with DotCom Therapy to provide SLP teletherapy services for our students this year. The Rankin Administration is currently working with DotCom Therapy to make this transition as seamless as possible for our students and families. Ali Coffey, Regional Manager for the State of Illinois for DotCom Therapy, has prepared a 1-minute introductory VIDEO specifically for our District. Also, you can access a DOCUMENT that includes other DotCom Therapy introductory videos that provide a general overview of their program and services. While our District's preference was providing in-person SLP services, we are optimistic about our partnership with DotCom Therapy, whom we believe is a leading provider of SLP teleservices. In the near future, as we make this full transition, the District will be contacting the parents of the students who utilize these services to provide more specific and detailed information. At that time, we will also be able to answer any questions about this new program at Rankin. Thank you!
Dr. Matt Gordon, Superintendent
