STEM Program to Launch at Rankin in 2020-2021!
Dear Parents and Guardians:
I am thrilled to share some exciting news with you! At last night's Regular Meeting, the Rankin Board of Education officially approved a new K-8 STEM Program (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). This program is in alignment with the District's vision of engaging our students through rigorous and diverse learning opportunities and will start in the 2020-2021 school year.
Prior to the Board's approval last night of the K-8 STEM Program, the administration visited two other STEM programs from area school districts. In addition, a rough draft schedule has been created, focus areas for the program have been identified (Click here), and a budget analysis of 2020-2021 (FY21) was completed.
We are beyond excited about this new program at Rankin! We still have some additional tasks ahead of us associated with planning and preparation before we officially launch this new, one-teacher, K-8 program next year. We will provide additional communication to everyone as we approach the beginning of this new program. Thank you to our Board of Education for their support of the District pushing forward and beginning this new program. Go Rebels!
Dr. Matt Gordon, Superintendent
