4th graders just finished a unit on Native Americans. We divided the class into 5 tribes: Seminole, Creek, Cherokee, Choctaw, and Chickasaw. We learned that not all Native Americans are the same. Some tribes did not eat a lot of buffalo. Most tribes ate deer as their main meat. The Seminole tribe ate alligators since they lived in Florida. The tribes that we studied did not live in teepees. Most lived in houses made of river cane and plaster. The Chickasaw tribe even had a summer house and a winter house. At the end of the unit, we made traditional fry bread from three of the tribes. We served the fry bread at our museum where we showed off projects that were made to show what we learned. Watch our slide show to see what we did!!!
