Several members of Rankin's Track team made it to the state track meet in 2009. The meet was held at Eastside in East Peoria on May 16.
Rachel Hawkins started the day by getting to the semifinals in the hurdles. Her time was 17.73 which was the 7th fastest time there.
Kara Toel ran the 100 meter dash and placed 4th. Kara then ran the 400 meter dash and won easily with a time of 1:01.65. She became the first state champion in Rankin history!
Rich Little represented Rankin well in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.64. Rich had the 25th fastest time in the state.
Darrian Owens ran well in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:50.49 and had the 31st fastest time.
The 4X400 relay team (Brittany Boyle, Abigail Lowman, Rachel Hawkins, Kara Toel, Morgan McDaniels) placed 5th with a time of 4:32.84.
This was a highly competitive meet. Every contestant there was either 1st or 2nd in sectional meets held across the state of Illinois. We are very proud of the competitive attitude of our athletes at Rankin School!
