Rankin's Got TALENT!

5 Students Selected as Winners in the Space Program Design Contest

by Trudy Dodson

October 07, 2009

13 Space Quilts (30" x 36"), designed by area students, will have a piece of gold lame fabric stitched into their quilt.  Why is this special news????  The fabric was taken to space by our very own Commander Scott Altman during his last flight with NASA!

All designs were to relate to space and the space program.  Winning quilts will be displayed throughout Tazewell County before they are auctioned off to raise funds for the Tazewell County Museum & Educational Center.

The designs were submitted last school year (2008-2009) by Rankin's former Art Teacher Julie Nutt.

Congratulations to Rankin's Winners!
